Setting a goal to write everyday makes for some interesting conversations within one’s own noggin. The weather is absolutely beautiful today, and I would love to sit on the porch while watching the birds fly around – however…we are getting some much needed roof repairs done today. So very grateful for the ability to keep our home safe, but at the same time all I can think of is Fixing A Hole by The Beatles. It’s get out my pencils to sketch, and here comes the opening line, “I’m fixing a hole where the rain gets in, and stops my mind from wandering…where it will goooooo.”
On days like today I wander into the online spaces where previous writers I love have shared tips on writing. You know, quotes and things. Here are some for today that really inspired me to sit in my chair to write.
“A writer is someone for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people.” — Thomas Mann
“There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” — Ernest Hemingway
“You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” — Ray Bradbury
Until the roof is finished, it might be good to find a quiet spot and write some haiku.
As far as today’s WP prompt – the best purchase I have ever made is reclaiming my time.
Until next time,
~ Kimbo
